Thoughts of whether the rain god would make it difficult for the match to go thru to the end were lingering in everyone's mind. But anyway the match started around 10 a.m. RCC won the toss and decided to bat first. The openers for RCC were Phulka and Manish(shit i forgot the name for him...that's what happens when u aren't around Manish) and boy oh boy....Phulka maintained a shot gun full of ammo right from the word go...while Manish who was coming back in the side after a low profile during the season and some travelling, was very cautious and was playing himself in. Both of them went after the bowling in their own style and way with Phulka standing out and sending the ball in the air for sixes.....phulke ki tarah ud rahi thi gend uske balle ko chune ke baad. he got to his half century very quickly while Manish gave him the stand at the other end. Eventually manish reached his first high score....50 of the season and then he just\uc0舲 seemed to be a completely changed batsman....he started hitting the ball clearly and had very few play and miss strokes. soon after the break Phulka reached his maiden century and what better a occassion could it be for his cute little daughter and his wife to be there watch him achieve this feat. i guess its true when they say....lady luck always helps!!! Damn i think everyone of us shud start bringing our girls to the game now eh!!! anyways coming back to the game...Phulka managed to score 111 runs before getting out to a catch in the outfield where he got the ball low on the bat. RCC registered their highest ever opening partnership of 183 runs in the history of the team and it was a treat to watch that partnership especially with Phulka showing that he can play some sensible strokes as well and has a level head on his shoulders!!! In went Samay and he for once was in a position where he wasn't under pressure to hold the innings together and so he舲 showed that how adaptive he is to any kind of situation and started playing his shots fearlessly with Manish still going strong on the other end. But soon enuf Manish fell to a good delivery and was clean bowled for a score of 71 which i am sure has done great wonders to his confidence and trued his ability as a batsman. In went RCC captain Dhokla....and let me tell u...this situation was perfect for him and he got all the protein from the situation and started hitting his hard shots all over the ground....in the meanwhil Mr. Snooze was out of his mind and instead of Snoozing every 10 min's he kept going on and on and eventually hit a quick 46 of 28 balls. In went Bade Nawaab, who has been struggling with form (form in every way...hehehehehe) this season and was hoping to get SOME ACTION going with the stick and the ball!!! hehehehe....he started playing his natural game and hit a huge one out of the park which did wonders to his confidence...he tried舲 to hit another one and jus fell short of the ropes and was caught at the long on boundary. In went Spinach who wasn't fresh as ever and just played one ball to score a big one run off of it!!! before he could do anything to the score....Dhokla was on fire but was unlucky to get out on the boundary but he made a quick fire 36 of 23 balls to which in went Mr.Halka...who has just become more Bhaari after his recent marriage...not saying that he wasn't already but he just added a few here and there u know!!! hahahaha....oh and yes he has also learnt some good poses that he was showing off in the stand....Halka hai sala...hehehehe....anyways so in he went with about one over to spare and he did hit some long ones and eventually scored a good 14 runs off of 5 balls which gave the eventual impetus to the score and pushed it to 299. RCC ended the innings with Spinach and Halka remaining unbeaten at the end with 299 on the board for RCC. Overall a great batting舲 performance even though Phulka had a few chances early on but he capitalized on them and scored a brilliant century.舲 舲 In went RCC to bowl with full confidence and vigour and were looking all charged up....Manish was just taking it easy and was off the field for about 6 overs and in the meanwhile Snooze started the proceedings for RCC...and almost as usual he got one of the openers sleeping and gave him a snooze...Cashif....rakhadti rand sali....bowled off of the 3rd ball of the innings. well we all knew he was just a stupid little thing standing there for nothing. Anyways so he bowled a great first over and Faraz was the one to start the second over and he was played by the other KMCC opener Salman Afsal....who started hitting from the word go....and man oh man he hit them hard and they stayed hit when he hit them....they would've cleared the ropes at any ground i think. Bade Nawaab ko Nawaabi style me mara usne from every angle....was unlucky to have a catch dropped by the wicketkeeper Halka...of the dangerous Salman Afsal who was around in his 30's that time and舲 eventually went on to score a mamoth 90 of just 50 balls out of which 9 were 6's and 5 were 4's. Damn!!! Nawaab did get a beating from Salman after that dropped catch but well its a part of the game. Just unlucky Nawaab sahab!!! anyways first bowling change was Phulka and he struck immediately...guess it was just his day!!! then came in Badbu and he was maintaing his great line and length that he is well known for and kept the batsmen tied down with his Stink...uggghhhh. another bowling change and in came Dhokla...he just cant keep hiimself out of the action with that overdoze of protein...anyways eventually the wickets started falling at the other end of salman and that was working in RCC's favor. Then came in the next bowling change....Andy who more often than not keeps the batsmen tied up....he did that and guess what...he got the much needed big wicket of Salman Afsal, who if had carried on then would've put KMCC in a position to win the match舲 single handedly the way he was going. and from there on the wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The highlight though was the bowling of Chaap...akhir me usne uski chaap chod di team par....he finally discovered what he is good at and i hope and believe will stick to that whenever he is given a chance to play. He gave away on 6 runs in 3.5 overs with one wicket. in the midst of all this Phulka got a very very severe cramp in his calf and had to be carried off the field....well he was in there almost for the full duration of the game on the field in the heat and humid conditions so i guess that was the reason for that. but he is fine now so its all good and he is very much available for the game this sunday!!!舲 舲 overall a great bowling performance too but what is of concern is the morale of the team going down in the middle of the innings....i don't know why is tht happening....towards the end of the innings i think it was only me and a couple of other guys encouraging the bowlers and shouting out....like samay said...when we are on the field why do we keep our mouths shut and don't voice our encouragement for our bowlers to boost their confidence? and instead we discourage them by telling them what they are not doing right and that too loud enuf that everyone can hear it including the batsman....anyways enuf discussion has been going around on that so i won't say anything else and let the seniors talk about it during or after practice on friday.舲 舲 but guys just two more to go and we wanna go into play off's with a hat trick of wins which will give us a good spot in the playoff's....so lets go all gung ho and kill it....lets give it our best shot on both these sundays and we shall see the difference that our team will have when we go in play off's :)舲 舲 good work RCC and keep it up!!!舲 }
