It was a very debatable issue whether we were going to be able to start the match or was it going to be played half and then rained out towards the end of it or rained out completely. But god wanted to witness a great game of cricket and cleared the sky for us. \uc0舲 舲 CCC won the toss and elected to bowl. Fahad Zaman and Shekhar Kalyanam were the two strong pillar like opening batsmen for RCC. Shekhar who was trying to get back into his original form was playing with caution and picking and choosing his shots whereas on the other end Fahad, the great Hooker...now stop thinking in the bad way you people...especially you Faraz, newaz getting back to the game...Fahad started playing his blistering shots all over the ground and he scored a quick fire 40 runs and entertained the crowd...but unfortunately he tried a very brave shot and got cleaned up by one of the good cricketing minds of the CCC team, Pranav Patel. Next in was the RCC always consistent old war horse....the great Mr. Time a.k.a Samay Vithlani. Samay started playing his usual strong defensive shots along with picking the singles and two's whenever he got a chance, Meanwhile on the other end Shekhar had held on to his wicket and had started to get back into舲 his groove and showed the opposition his awesome display of shots all over the ground along with his solid defense. he was batting at the score of 40 runs when he hit a pull / hook shot off Rajesh and the umpire was about to signal a six until the fielder took a unbelievable catch flying in the air with one hand and caught the ball. Even the fielder, Pinku himself could not believe it and asked himself again whether he had actually caught it. Nevertheless the great and supporting knock of 40 runs from Shekhar came to an end but at least he found his form back which was very important for the team. In came the gr8 Faraz Rafi (i was paid 100 $ to rite those words by Faraz) who even with his broken li'l pinky was brave enough to go and fight for RCC. Faraz started off with his good aray of shots whereas on the other end Samay who had got his eye in was on his way to playing one of his finest innings and he was consistently scoring boundaries of the舲 opposition bowlers and wasn't letting the bowlers settle in. Faraz gave a good stand but got out for a mere 12 runs. Then came in the west indian hero of our team...Andy G....who was making a comeback after his knee injury. He played some really good shots all over the ground and Samay and Andy managed to put on a big valuable partnership for RCC and thus strenghtening our position in the match...with only a few overs left Andy started hitting the big shots and was unfortunate enough to be caught near the boundary (one of the few catches that CCC managed to hold onto). In came the lanky but sturdy Parth Patel who can really hit some biggies but because of the need of the situation he had to go at the ball from ball one and he made a quick 6 runs and was back in the pavilion. Then went out the Binge Hitter...oops...Pinch Hitter of our team....one of the most dedicated players of our team....Jaadu a.k.a Keyur P. He is very well known for his swashbuckling舲 hits and his tendency to upset the biggest and best of bowlers....but unfortunately he didn't have a whole lot of balls left so he managed to get 7 runs. Now lets not forget Samay, who at the end got run out of the last ball of the innings but only after making sure that he had got his team to a comfortabale position of 225 runs. Samay scored a good knock of 70 runs wich was the backbone of the innings of our team. and living upto his name...The Gr8 Mr. Time took his time to build his innings and secure RCC at a comfortable position. RCC ultimately finished at a score of 225 runs.舲 舲 RCC was raring to go in the field and take CCC outa the match asap. Opening bowlers Samay and Faraz did a great job by holding up the opposition to a slow start and also making them bleed by picking up wickets every now and then. Samay managed to get Shankar out first ball caught in the slips by a very alert shekhar. Faraz took two important wickets at the start of the game too. The innings went on and RCC started to get into a comfortable position by picking up wickets at regular intervals....until out came Vinay. He put on a good partnership with Vishwas and took on almost every bowler in the RCC team and scoring shots with ease of every1 thus forcing the captain Snehal to make a bowling change and hand in the ball to myself the gr8...Sam...now this is awkward riting about myself but well...i got the break through by picking up Vishwas and then Vinay in quick time. Batting at the crease were Ajay and Pranav who were cautiously but consistently picking舲 up runs until i again got Ajay cleaned up in my last over. But pranav put up a solid fight by smacking Parth for 24 runs in his last over and thus coming very close to the RCC total. Our target was to get the batsmen at the other end of pranav out and snehal managed to do that and then he gave the ball to samay for finishing up the job for RCC who gladly obliged by picking up the last wicket and adding 3 wickets to his total. Samay clearly is the man of the match (unoficially awarded by me) for his gr8 knock of 70 runs and his brilliant bowling performance of 7 - 0 - 29 - 3. RCC won the match by 47 runs.舲 舲 All in all a good performance by us except a few hard catches going down but hey...every1 makes mistakes and are pardoned...only if they are not repeated :) I always say...the best player can have the worst day and the worst player can have the best day (like i did....hahahahaha) Great performance guys and we hope to keep getting better and bigger as the season goes.....GO RCC!!!舲 }
